John Brown is more than a rapper- He's an entity.  Many people perceive him to be something that he is not, while many stereotype him, and refuse to truly listen.  All of this may seem cliche, but there are more sides to the man than what a TV show (The White Rapper Show) or an interview can hope to explain, but in an exclusive interview with HHPulse, he does his best to let people know the real John Brown.

HHPulse:  What's good JB?

John Brown:  You know what it is, Ghetto Revival!

HHPulse:  Haha, that's whats up.  I ask everyone this question, to let all the fans out there feel you.  What was the first Hip-Hop album you fell in love with?

John Brown: The first album that I genuinely loved was "Doggystyle"....influenced the shit outta me.

HHPulse:  I feel you on that one, fam.  What besides Snoop inspired you to pursue a career in music?

John Brown:  I was always inspired by artists who sparked movements or who were part of movements that were larger than the music.  Music has always been the inspirational force behind influencing people's thoughts about the world and I wanted to add my voice and perspective.

HHPulse: Oh, so I see your "I'm more than just a rapper" philosophy had deep roots.  What would you describe your musical style as?

John BrownFuturistiksupaflyindustrypimpshit!

HHPulse:   Haha!  Thats a new term right there.  A lot of folks tend to categorize you, and seem to miss the thoughtful side of your tunes.  How does it feel to try that approach in this particularly degrading time in music?

John Brown:   It's about using bait to slip in the medicine.  You can't hit them people from the mountain top, but rather from the valley.  Rather than telling people what's wrong or telling the audience what they should do, I express my lifestyle and allow the listener to draw conclusions about American society, inequality and artistic freedom.

HHPulse:  One thing that has drawn fans to you is your good choice of beats.  Who does your production?

John Brown:   I've been a producer for 10 years and along with Dred Scott, we built our in-house production team:  So Religious Productionz.  Our production team now includes producers from all over the states.  Shoutout to Demby and Matt Price over in Cali.  I also sometimes take beats from outside producers but I try to keep it in-house.

HHPulse:  Most people think that you originated from the East Coast, but I hear this is untrue.  Where did you get your start?

John Brown:  I've been rapping since '95 in Davis, CA.  I just kept grinding, making beats and building with Ghetto Revival until I found my niche.

HHPulse: You're a different kind of personality in music, but what do you feel you bring to the table that other people don't?

John Brown:  I bring that King of da Burbz shit!!!  I created a throne that never existed in hip-hop, and now some want to try and take the crown.  The goal for an artist is to express themselves the best way they can express themselves.  It's all about doing you in the most all-encompassing manner.

My job is to make sure the story of the King of da Burbz, the story of John Brown is consistently and fully expressed at all times.  I can't worry about how a different artist expresses him or herself.  That's their job.  My job is to express myself and noone can do it like me ...ya dig??

HHPulse: What can fans of JB expect from your album, and when is it releasing?

John BrownThe King of da Burbz album will be an all-time classic for hip-hop.  I'm exploring the psychology - the flossiness and the torment associated with my life.  I'm covering topics that haven't been addressed in mainstream hip hop and pushing genre boundaries to reflect my versatility.  You will hear darkness, triumph and everything in between on my debut project.

My solo project will likely be released in the first quarter of 2008.  I've been working on this project my whole life.  We could release it independently right now but I want to make sure the promotion and distribution is adequate for the colossal impact that this project will have on hip-hop.

HHPulse: We can't wait for it come out, fam! Thanks for stopping by HHPulse.

John BrownAnytime man, Anytime!
