Writing since the age of 15, Panama is as much a force on the mic as he is on the business end, and aims to make music that will stand the test of time, not forgotten with it. He stays true to his hispanic heritage, as both of his parents are natives of Panama and thus, unlike some MC's, his name is 100% respect, and 0% for show as he believes in embodying both truth and realness in life.
Baltimore native Panama isn't your ordinary rapper. He has already
accomplished what most rappers take years to create: He's the CEO of
Young Execs Records, has his own clothing line, B-More
Creative, which has been worn by the likes of Method Man and Lupe
Fiasco, and is a professional actor, appearing on the hit
HBO series "The Wire."
With all of this entrepreneurial prowess, and
success, you'd think he'd be satisfied, but his love for music is
deeper than all of the above. Over the weekend, I had the chance to speak
with Panama, and spoke to him about his life, his album, and his future.
HHP: What's goin' on Panama?
Panama:You know, just doing me, making my music.
HHP:
I feel you man. I'ma get right into it. I ask this question to
everyone, so be honest. What was the first Hip-Hop album you fell in
love with?
Panama:The first Hip-Hop album that I fell in love
with hands down must go to The Notorious B.I.G's "Ready To Die" without
a doubt!! [It was a] straight classic, and beautifully formatted to the
T.
HHP: Haha, that's dope. What inspired you to make music?
Panama:I can honestly say people inspired me to do music along with my family
in Panama, not to mention music is so powerful that I couldn't
pass up the opportunity to show the world what i think about
certain things in the world ya know?
HHP: I can feel that definitely. What would you describe your musical style as?
Panama:I will describe my style as a breath of fresh air, universal, and I
have a style that fans and future supporters should be able to adapt to
instantly, feel comfortable around, and understand that this is a craft
and not an act.
HHP: Who does your production?
Panama:The hottest producer out of B-More, my super-producer Blackjab! He
mainly does all the production for me. He is a beast when it comes to
producing, and he doesn't have just one sound - he crafts the works and
completes the work with precision and perfection! There are other
producers that look out for the kid such as my dude Circuit from the
CHI, CEO of Nap Entertainment, my dude D.I.R, The Baron Boys from
Scram Jones' Beast Music, Cells from Crack City, and CappnKidWonder.
HHP:
That sounds like a hot lineup man. Besides that, what do you bring
different to the table, that you feel other artists don't?
Panama:
I'm on my old-school hustle right now, I'm on my cheesecake grind,
Lol. My 94 March! I treat this profession as a craft, and not a quick
scheme to get money. I understand the game and the direction the game
is going , and I'm still a firm believer that hard work and
determination is the key to success and not to mention I really do this
for the peoples and represent a country! I am the Spanish kid for a
reason ya dig?!
HHP: I see you're grinding fam! What can fans and new people alike expect from your upcoming album?
Panama:Everyone can expect a new sound, new style, new swag, new love, and life. This is a breath of fresh air!
HHP: It was great talking to you man. When is the album coming out?
Panama:We are planning to release the album sometime around the 3rd quarter or
maybe 4th quarter when everyone is looking for the next big thing! The
Mix album is titled "Ring Side Seats - The Weigh In." It's hosted by DJ
K-Dot, DJ L GEE, DJ Blurray, & DJ E Dubble with features from other
artists in the game that are trying to break into the industry! _______________________________________________________
